What is VeriFile? - VeriFile is a small browser-based application used to view your data recovery file listing report. Once installed/downloaded from the Ontrack website, VeriFile runs locally on your system and requires no internet connection.

Is the VeriFile Online Data Report Right For Me? - Browser-based applications, sometimes called ASP applications, are becoming more and more common. They offer the advantages of smaller size (speed) and latest version availability. Ontrack also offers the traditional method of emailing you text report files. Slow Modem? The VeriFile Online Data Report requires downloading less than 500kb to setup the application. Once installed, VeriFile runs locally at the native speed of your system.

Plug-ins - The VeriFile Online Data Report engine uses "plug-ins" for your Internet browser. Plug-ins are common to web technology and are relatively small in size. They are small applications that use the program controls that are built into your browser and run on your local system. Like other Microsoft® Windows®-based programs, plug-ins usually provide an option to uninstall through the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs.

Privacy - Ontrack has absolutely no visibility into your system or its contents from the VeriFile Online Data Report. The Ontrack website is a convenient delivery system only used to download a small browser based application that runs locally on your system.

Uninstall - After the installation procedure is complete, the VeriFile Online Data Report plug-in can be removed through the Control Panel “Add/Remove Programs” option. To uninstall the application, select VeriFile Online Data Reports and click “Change/Remove”.

System Requirements – The following minimum hardware and software requirements are needed to download and run the VeriFile Online Data Reports:
    Hardware1: Intel® Pentium® processor or compatible, 16MB of RAM (32MB+ recommended), up to 5MB of available hard-disk space, VGA (800x600) or higher resolution (1024x768 recommended), keyboard and mouse or compatible pointing device, modem or Internet connection

    Operating System: Windows® XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, or Windows NT® 4.0. All versions of Windows must be running the latest service pack.

    Internet Browser: Microsoft® Internet Explorer v5.x or higher with the latest service pack installed. Non Microsoft® Internet Explorer browsers are not supported at this time.

    1 Memory and hard-disk space requirements may change depending on the size of the report file being viewed.
Having Problems? – Check your task bar and tray and exit all applications except your Internet browser. If you have multiple browsers or browser windows open, close those not connected to VeriFile Online Data Report pages. Be sure to turn off any Instant Message type functions. Shut down as many background processes as you can.

Technical Support - If you have questions to problems not answered here, contact our Technical Support group. When reporting an issue, please include any information that might help us diagnose the problem. The following details are often the most helpful:
  • The version of VeriFile you are using (on the Welcome menu, click About Verifile).
  • The versions of Windows and Internet Browser that you are running.
  • The circumstances and sequence of steps that led to the problem.
  • The text of the error messages (if any appeared), and the contents of the Details dialog box.
  • A list of other Windows-based programs that were running when the error occurred.
