Ontrack Data Recovery

Data Recovery Newsletters - January 2007

2006 BITS & BYTES

A look back at the amount of data processed in Ontrack's labs in 2006 reinforces how data recovery continues to increase in importance.

* Worldwide, Ontrack processed more than 4 petabytes of data in 2006! (Four petabytes = 4,000,000,000,000,000 bytes or 4,000,000 GB)
* The size of the average data recovery job nearly doubled between 2004 and 2006.

At the time of publication, Ontrack recovered an estimated 6.88 billion MB of data since 1987. That's a big number, to put it in perspective:
According to census information, the world population is just over 6.57 billion people. That means over the past 20 years, Ontrack could have processed more than 1 MB of data per person.
